Dear managers,

I've to install 15 ES40 with Tru64 5.0A and additional software plus the
patches.

So it takes a long time to install all the machines from scratch, so i'm
searching for a faster solution.
(No we didn't have access to an install server ):

The system disk has bascily 3 partitions
Partition Mount Filesystem
a / advfs
b swap
d /usr advfs

I found two ways to dupblicate the disk

1. with dd
2. with vdump | vrestore

After dupclication i switched the duplicated drive into slot 0 in the drive
cage and booted.

It seems that the device management under 5.0A has changed in a drastic way.
The system didn't come up in multiuser mode.

The problem is that the duplicated disk is still /dev/disk/dsk1 instead of
/dev/dsk/dsk0

I found out the hwmgr and dsfmgr are the user interface to the device
databeses which are not human readable :(

Is anybody out there with helping words or suggestions or would like to do
the same thing and had more success?

Greetings
