/dot files

    Hello

    I'm new to Tru64, after a long time administering Solaris,
    IRIX, HP-UX and Linux; and I have some stupid questions:

    1) What are all these /.*...* files on a clean Tru64 installation?

    I see this was asked before
    <http://www.ornl.gov/its/archives/mailing-lists/tru64-unix-managers/2000/08/msg00154.html>
    but there is not an answer.

    2) I see a .tags dir on every filesystem, with inode=3.
    Is this the "lost+found" equivalent?

    3) I have found about 3 newsgroups about osf; but they seem
    dead. Is this list the only active forum?

    4) Can Tru64 act as a NIS+ client (NIS+ server running on
    no-yp-compatible mode)

    5) This machine had Tru64 installed "out of the box", with
    hostname "WEBBRICK"; and "root" and "vet" accounts.
    Do you know which were their passwords?
    (just curious, I already installed a new system)

    6) If these questions were too dumb, which documentation
    should I read? :-)
