Can I use non-Compaq branded disks in MA6000 SAN device ?

I'm looking into purchasing a MA6000 storage area network device along
with a DS20E Alpha system as a large filesystem. While the general
hardware (MA6000 cabinet/controller, disk shelves, Host Bus Adapter, Fiber
Switch and software) is pretty pricey for the system, the prices for the
disk drives, using Compaq part numbers are about 3-4 times the street
prices I see for what seem to be regular SCSI drives -- i.e. $1060 for a
18GB 10000RPM Ultra3 disk -- these seem to be about $300 for Seagate/IBM
drives. Can I use Seagate/IBM drives in such a system or must I use the
Compaq drives ?

Thanks for any information.
