Dear managers!
Sorry if I'm slightly off topic. I would like to move the PCL print
service (serving win9x clients in the network) for a DEC LN17 printer
from an ancient VMS/PATHWORKS machine to tru64 using samba 2.0.7. The
corresponding printcap (using the passthrough filter /usr/lbin/xf) entry
looks as follows:
xrx_bin|lp3|DigitalLN17ps PCL Printer on LAT PORT_7:\
:ct=LAT:\
:lp=/dev/lat/648:\
:mx#0:\
:xf=/usr/lbin/xf:\
:lf=/usr/adm/xrx_err:\
:sd=/usr/spool/xrx_bin:
Under this scenario, the output shows an unwanted leading page with
_at_PJL SET PAGEPROTECT=OFF
_at_PJL SET RET ON
_at_PJL SET ECONMODE=OFF
_at_PJL SET RESOLUTION=600
_at_PJL SET LPARM:PCL XEDGETOEDGE=OFF
_at_PJL SET OUTBIN=OCTNOOFFSET
_at_PJL ENTER LANGUAGE=PCL
The VMS machine NEVER generated this sort of output. But what's worse,
the printing doesn't work reliably. For most of the cases the output
gets garbled and results in one-character-per-page output. I haven't the
faintest clue on what could be wrong? Any chances to get rid of the
unwanted lines shown above?
I will gladly summarize.
Regards
Peter
