Two nuisances with NIS

Dear managers,

I have two minor problems with NIS on Tru64 v5.0a
patch kit 0002, the first regarding NIS master
server and the second regarding NIS clients.

1)
Each time a NIS account is changed , dxaccounts hangs
for a second and then reports success.
The auth.log however complains the following:
<...> yppasswdd[1554]: yppasswdd: prpasswd ndbm update failed for key <...>
I use btree format for NIS maps as recommended.
Though, the changes are written to the corresponding files
(cat /var/yp/src/prpasswd, cat /var/yp/src/passwd), and pushed to
the corresponding NIS maps (edauth -dp -N -g, ypcat -k passwd,
  ypcat -k prpasswd).
I could simply ignore the diagnostic message but the 1s
timeout after each change is such a nuisance.

2)
Although NIS templates appear in the prpasswd NIS map, both
as references in user entries and as individual entries,
NIS clients fail to acknowledge that.
dxaccounts shows NIS users as having the default local template,
instead of the distributed one as set on the master server.
The problem can be rounded by not using NIS templates.

Has anyone experienced these problems or am I doing something wrong?
Any helpful hints would be greatly appreciated.

Regards,

Sinisa Segvic
