Hello out there.
Question:
Is there a way to calculate the amount of space a tar archive has taken
up on a tape without actually restoring the data.
I have a very old tar archive on tape and need to restore the data. The
tape is a HS-4/90s 4mm tape with a total capacity of 2GB.
Running "tar -tvf <tape device>" produces the table of contents, but
rather then adding up all the file sizes I thought there might be an
easier way.
Any comments appreicated.
