After a little discovery, it turns out that Linux was on the drive before
Tru64. Linux writes is master boot record to block 0 of the drive. Tru64
needs to write dsk0a to that block so they were conflicting. I reformatted
the drive under DOS and did and fdisk /mbr and now am installing 5.1 just
fine.
Thanks

Subject: Installing 5.1 on a Third Party Alpha
Hello,
I am trying to install 5.1 (or 4.0f) on an Aspen Systems Durango II. I am
having problems partitioning the drive. It is a 28G ide drive. I get the
following error:
disklabel: ioctl: DIOCSDINFO: Open partition would move or shrink, use
alternate partition.
Even when I choose the default partition scheme I get this error. I would
like to get this working, it would be a great little desk PC.
