Hello,
I am experiencing a very poor performance on a AlphaServer DS10L. The
alphaserver is used as a web-frontend, running:
Apache-1.3.14
Php-4.0.3pl1
The server is used as a webmail frontend - the application is written in
php-4.0.3. The server is equipped with two 9Gb disks (10000 rpm)
(raid-1) and 512Mb ram. OS is Tru64 5.1.
The application is started and running from MFS (Memory File System - a
ramdisk like thingy :)
Stressing the server using Microsoft Web Stress application I get a request
pr. second ratio of ~ 25.
If I run the same stress test on a DL380 running Linux (kernel 2.2.16) and
the same setup as above I get a request pr. second ration of ~ 47.
The DL380 comes with 1 9Gb disk (10000 rpm) (no raid) and 128Mb ram.
Here the application is started and running from the disk.
I have tuned the AlphaServer as described in the "Tuning Tru64 UNIX
for Internet Server" document - put the performance is still way too
poor ... :(
Can anybody shed some light on this?
Kind regards,
Brian
