w output (revisited) wrong

Still having a problem with w output. I rebooted my
machine (uptime 13 days), I am clearing wtmp nightly,
but still idle column keeps accumulating. Its now on
38days, but only on NCD Xterms console logins. This
makes it almost impossible to manage actual idle
users.
Using command "last" shows wtmp begins Thu Dec 28
23:25
but idle column has 38days.
When users logout, the 38days idle goes away too, and
when they login the next day, it gets accumulated.
Again, it is only doing this on console logins. This
is for 4.0F, and another server updated to 4.0G, is
experiencing the same problem. The output below is
from V4.0F:
xxx_at_/usr/usr0/mollel$ w

The following output is from V4.0G:
Here uptime is only 7days, idle?, 31 days!!
what column is different between 4.0F and 4.0G, for F
is shows console login, for G it shows a (-). I clean
wtmp daily too!!
