Hi,
Thanks to Cy Dewhurst for replying.
Cy suggested a couple of things, including swapping the 2nd Trio card
with the FDDI.
I tried that, but still no joy. I left the FDDI card where it was and
tried swapping the ethernet & 2nd Trio cards round. Still no joy.
I then tried a PowerStorm graphics card in place of the 2nd Trio and it
was fine. It was a wee bit strange as I'd already tried this, but while
the cards were all in their original slots, so the solution seems to be
a combination of slots used and the machine not liking another Trio.
I have now rebuilt the kernel and have the PowerStorm as 0.0 and the
original Trio as 0.1 and it's working fine, so I'll leave it at that.
Regards,
Tony.
P.S. Sorry about posting twice - but I didn't see my original message
until well over an hour later...!
ORIGINAL MESSAGE:
Hi again,
Got this from Joe Fletcher, which seems to hit the nail on the head
(RTFM). Thanks Joe.

Don't think you are allowed two VGA cards in one box. From what I recall
of
the installation instructions from various Powerstorm cards you can have
combinations like a Powerstorm and another VGA card but you have to
disable
the VGA option on the Powerstorm. 'Fraid I don't have one to hand now
but
if you can source the install guide for something like a ZLXp-L2
graphics
adapter or a 4D51T there's a full description in there.

Hi,
I want to add a 2nd trio64 1Mb graphics card to a 4100 but am not having
much luck.
Server spec:
AS4100 EV5/300 512Mb fresh install of 4.0F, no additional software /
patches installed. Console 5.8-2.
pci0 slot 4 = trio vga
pci1 slot 2 = ethernet
pci1 slot 3 = scsi
pci1 slot 4 = fddi
The above is fine, but I tried adding the new card (same as original
card) in pci1 slot 5 and that seemed to be OK in that I could do a sh
config to see it at the console. However, though I could boot off
vmunix, booting off genvmunix caused a crash ("Machine Check Processor
fatal abort").
Any suggestions?
Regards & thanks in advance,
Tony.
P.S. I checked out the new card in place of the original and it's OK.
P.P.S. Apologies if you've already seen this, but I sent it 45 mins ago
and haven't seen it posted yet.
