Thanks for all of the responses.
Basically, you do need a license to run dbx. However, several people
recommended downloading gdb from the freeware cd as an alternative debugger.
Also, I was able to determine the image running with $ file core. We were
able to find some articles relating to the problems through Oracle's
metalink.

I have an Oracle application (Forms Builder) that continues to crash and
produce a core file. However, when I attempt to use dbx to look at the core
file, I get errors saying that I need a license to use this utility. Is
there any other way to look at a core file with existing tools that come
with Tru64 5.1 by default?
