Thanks to all who replied. Seems there is no
comparison to books like "HP Certified", or "IBM
redbook", which are single source books for their
certification exams. But, as an alternative, very good
links below, esp. one on compaq documentation, easy to
print out and study (focusing on TruCluster).
It is better to buy the CDROM NAT 534/0599. I believe
that it costs
arround$500. You need 2 examinations (I remember). I
gave it in begining 1999.
Regards, Claudio.
Check the following links for Compaq's Docs, if you
have a good
double-sided printer (we have an HP8100) you can print
whatever you need.

There are, apparently, only two Tru64 specific books
published outside
Of Digital Press, check this link:

Here is some information that you might find useful :
Steve Hancock's "Tru64 UNIX File System
Administration" (covers AdvFS and LSM)
http://www.bhusa.com/digitalpress/us/subindex.asp?country=United+States&mscssid=F0T6VTG9U5S92LE200AKH843NPSSDF60
Matt Cheek's "Digital UNIX Systems Administration"
http://www.bhusa.com/digitalpress/us/subindex.asp?country=United+States&mscssid=F0T6VTG9U5S92LE200AKH843NPSSDF60
Sott Fafrak and Jim Lola are currently developing
"Compaq's TruCluster Server Handbook" (cover TCR
5.0A/5.1/5.1A) also for Digital Press. This should be
available in the late Fall 2001.
I hope this helps. Cheers,
Jim
Hi, I teach the certification "bootcamp" course for
ISA, and am the pilot instructor for the "Tru64
Immersion" class that's replacing the bootcamp.
Unfortunately, there's nothing really out there in
print on Tru64 other than Matthew Cheek's system
administration book. The Compaq training materials
for the various classes ISA and the other training
partners teach are really the best resources for
studying and preparing for the tests. The first three
exams are covered in the
Immersion course, and TruClusters in the one-week
TruCluster class. You could probably do just fine on
the Networking exam by studying from the O'Reilly
TCP/IP book (the 'crab' book), and working on Tru64 to
firm up the specifics. The other two exams, however,
you need the Compaq docs and/or the training
materials.
I don't know if you can purchase the course materials
without actually taking the classes, however. You
might want to drop a line to the ISA office manager,
Charlene Mitchell (charlene.mitchell_at_softadv.com), and
she can let you know if you can. Feel free to drop me
a note back if I can be of further assistance.
Cheers, Ed.

I'm only aware of two Tru64-centric books, "Digital
UNIX System Administrator's Guide" by Matthew Cheek
(ISBN: 1-55558-199-4) and "Tru64 UNIX File Systems" by
Steven M. Hancock (ISBN: 1-5558-227-3). I haven't
read much of the latter; I just received it late last
week.
But the first one covers most of your #1 and #2 and
some of your #3. There is a bit on tuning too. But
security is lacking, it deals mostly with C2 security.
I'd suggest some of the o'reilly books, or some of
the more recent books on computer security. I don't
know of many books dealing with TruCluster. Perhaps
the Compaq docs???
Kevin Dea
nope. (and I am a certification instructor)

Experience is what allows you to recognize
a mistake the second time you make it.
