Thanks for the quick help on a weekend from "Sean O'Connell"
<sean_at_stat.Duke.EDU> and BrianH_at_dice.com
in the end, the machine serving the disk was blocking through security....
The final fix was to add:
portmap: 128.230.72.0/255.255.255.0
rpc.nfsd: 128.230.72.0/255.255.255.0
rpc.mountd: 128.230.72.0/255.255.255.0
to /etc/hosts.allow
(The machine serving the disk incidently is Linux, the servers trying to
mount it are Dec unix 4.0B)
Also part of the troubleshooting process was to make sure rpc.statd and
lockd are running, as well as portmap. (rpcinfo -p localhost), make sure
the disk is shared correctly in /etc/exports, and make sure nfs is running.
Thanks! My department is back online now!
