Hi,
I've been receiving many e-mails informing me that it is possible to upgrade
from v4.0D and v4.0E directly to 4.0G. I have also found documentation
supporting this on Compaq's Tru64 website:

"Sections 2.2 and 2.2.1 of the Version 4.0G Release Notes states that only
Version 4.0E and Version 4.0F systems can be updated to Version 4.0G. This is
only partially true. Version 4.0G can be updated to from Version 4.0D, Version
4.0E, and Version 4.0F. "
So, here are the (latest) upgrade increments:
4.0D -> 4.0G -> 5.1
4.0E -> 4.0G -> 5.1
4.0F -> 4.0G -> 5.1
4.0G -> 5.1
