Answer:

The DE500-BA is not compatable with Digital Unix 4.0B (I know, I need to
upgrade this box).

I tried rebuilding the kernel after booting to genvmunix, I tried sizer,
you name it, no go.

I pulled another Network card out of an older 2000 machine running 4.0B
just fine and voila, "genvmunix" found it and added it to the conf file
without any problem after a rebuild.

Thanks to everyone for the quick responses!

Q:

Been working on a machine all night, its running DU 4.0B on a 4100.

>From the console I see the ethernet device listed as:

tulip0 (DE500-BA) slot 2, bus 0 PCI host 1

I've tried changing the rc.config file to use tu0, tu1, and tu2 yet I
can't get the network card to be seen on boot-up.

What am I doing wrong. Quick help is appreciated.
