Hello Gurus!
I'm running 4.0E (I know, the solution is UPGRADE) and need two very simple
questions answered concerning Digital Unix. I recently had to restore from
a tape backup and 2 things need to be done...
1.) could someone help me out with a script or trick with chown to
recursively change the owner of some folders and subdirs? I'm sorry if this
is in the man page and I'm just not seeing it ;-)
2.) does someone out there have (or is there a compaq site for) the list of
files that need the setuid bit fixed so that SU, xterm, and other goodies
work properly when the user isn't a superuser? I know there is a compaq
Utility, but It doesn't seem to be on any of our CD's (maybe it wasn't
included in 4.0E ?)
I realize these questions are about some pretty general stuff. But, its
been so long since I've had to do this that I seem to have forgotten in my
ripe old age of 25. Anyway, the help you provide is as always extremely
appreciated and the results of these two operations will allow me to
summarize 2 or 3 solutions to some rather uncommon problems with older
alphastation 255/300 systems.
Thanks In Advance,
Shane Southwood
