Hi admins,
I got a great deal of responses to this one. It seems most of us have
encountered this problem once or more...
My suspicion was right, though... CDE does need a correctly configured and
working network. So you've to double-check all settings. (host, address,
DNS, speed etcetera)
>From Colin Walters I received a 'NIC reconfiguration Best Practice'
document. It's a very detailed desription on how to reconfigure your
(primary) network interface. (attached)
Thanx everyone!
regards,
Alex

- Hi all,
-
- found already other questions in archive, no solution:(
-
- After change of network settings CDE gives a lot of trouble: hangs at
login.
- Does CDE need active (and correct configured) network?
- I can do a 'command-line login' but CDE just won't start up.-
-
- After boot I changed ipaddress (ifconfig tu0 inet xxx.xxx.xxx.xx netmask
- xxx.xxx.xxx.x)
- changes /etc/resolv.conf and /etc/hosts and default gw - no success
-
- ideas, hints?
