Thanks to David DeWolfe,Marie-Claude ,Nagyak Akos ,WIlliam Bochnik for
replying fast .
All of them suggested mount -u / ( from the man pages to mount root file
system read-write).
It worked and I was able to edit fstab file and able to bring up the system
in multi-user mode
minus the crashed disk.

No answers so far to the keyboard problem .

Thanks - This is indeed a very helpful list .

Hi Managers,

I have 2 problems :

1. 1of the hard disks in the system crashed , the system comes up only in a
Single User mode .
Is it normal ? Shouldn't the system come up in mulit-user mode even if
1 of the disks (not the root) crashes.
I want to take out that particular mount point entry from the fstab
file , but I am not able to do so
since / is mounted as read-only . How do I change the fstab entry ? Do
I have to boot from cdrom ?

2. I am using a dell keyboard connected to the console. At the boot prompt
all the keys function normally ,but when the
    system comes up , some of the keys don't work ( like # , | ) .Is it a
keyboard mapping problem ?

Thanks in advance for your guidance.
