Hi,

I am just trying to switch my AlphaPC 164 SX running DU 4.0E from
10 Mbit (a 10Mbit TP/AUI/BNC DEC Tulip DE 435 with a DC 21040 on it) to
100Mbit.

I found a cheap board with a DC 21143 on it (it is a transtec T99FDEC),
the SRM console recognizes it as ewb0 (when plugged in additionally to the
DE 435 which is ewa0), "sho dev" shows its hardware address.

When I replace the DE 435 with the T99FDEC (same PCI slot, so no kernel
rebuild should be needed) it is recognized as ewa0, "set ewa0_mode
FastFD" succeeds. After booting my kernel it finds a "tu0: Tulip", but
then it says "hardware address: checksum error". Ok, the hardware address
is not a DEC hardware adress "08:00:2b..." but something like
"00:00:10:...", could this be the reason?

My question: Has anyone such a "third party" Tulip card running, may be
with a newer version (Tru64 4.0F or 4.0G), i.e. would an upgrade help me
in this case?

Thanks

Albrecht
