One Oracle-listener, more databases on 5.1-cluster

Hi admins,

Up until now even Compaq-engineerig has not been able to answer this
question, so here goes...

We are running Oracle 8.1.7 on a Tru64 Unix 5.1 cluster. Servers are two
AlphaServer GS80's. We installed a total of 9 Oracle databases, each
controlled by caa-scripting. Thus, if one of the processes needed for the
database fails, caa will restart and/or relocate this database.
We only installed one listener on the cluster, since we don't want a
separate listener for each database. And this is where we are having a
problem: the listener can only connect to databases that are running on the
same clustermember. So, if a database should fail over it would still not be
reachable via the listener. Or, even worse, if the listener would fail-over
none of the databases would be reachable.
How can we configure the cluster so that the listener can communicate to all
databases in the cluster regardless of the member they are running on?

Thanx for your time.

Greetings,

Dagmar Galama
