Hello,

In a nutshell: It works with Tru64 5.1 when the following line in
/etc/sysconfigtab is used:

aha_chim:
        PCI_Option = PCI_SE_Rev - 0x210, Vendor_Id - 0x9004, Device_Id - 0x8178, Rev - 0, Base - 0, Sub - 0, Pif - 0 Sub_Vid - 0, Sub_Did - 0, Vid_Mo_Flag - 1, Did_Mo_Flag - 1, Rev_Mo_Flag - 0, Base_Mo_Flag - 0, Sub_Mo_Flag - 0, Pif_Mo_Flag - 0, Sub_Vid_Mo_Flag - 0, Sub_Did_Mo_Flag - 0, Driver_Name - aha_chim, Type - A, Adpt_Config - N

Note that the second line is one long line (some mailers might break it up
in multiple lines).

Subject: Status of Adaptec AHA-2940 SCSI support for Tru64 ?

Hello,

What's the status of Adaptec AHA-2940 SCSI support for Tru64? Apparently
Tru64 5.1 supports Adaptec controller chips with the aha_chim.mod driver.
For testing, I've plugged an AHA-2940 into our PC164LX based machine. The
latest SRM console firmware version 5.8 sees the Adaptec controller and
the disk just fine. I can even boot from the disk! Of course there's no
operating system on it yet.

For further testing, I've booted the V5.1 installation CD but I get a
message similar to this:

PCI device at bus 0, slot 6, function 0 could not be configured:
Vendor ID 0x9004, Device ID 0x8178, Base class 0x1, Sub class 0x0
Sub-VID 0x0 Sub-DID 0x0 has no matching entry in the PCI option table

and I can't see the disk in the disk selection dialog.

Apparently the Adaptec support in Tru64 is limited to the on-board
controller for DS20 and UP2000 machines. Is this true? Any trick to get
AHA-2940's running anyway? Where are all the entries in /etc/sysconfigtab
gone in Tru64 5.1 where it was possible to assign a specific PCI device id
to a driver module?

Thanks // Tom
