4100 blows up on 5.1 install

I have a 4100 that can't seem to install 5.1... I've taken it from
4.0D -> 5.0 -> 5.0A sucessfully in the last couple of days. Prior to
upgrading to 5.1 I upgraded the firmware to 5.7 (I just heard Dr. Tom
groan, I did it because the books say that Trucluster 5.1 requires 5.7
firmware). On the upgrade from 5.0A to 5.1 the prelimiaries went
fine, at some point around rebuilding the kernel the system dies. I'm
dumped back to a blue console screen with a series of register dumps
and such. "Fine" says I. I'll do a fresh install of 5.1. Same
situation. In frustration I reboot the server and it comes up. I add
my license stuff, config the network and go home. This morning I
arrive to a blue screen. Before all of this this system was rock
solid, uptimes in +160 days category.

I've got a call into Compaq but thought I'd ping the list for any
similar scenarios.
