Networking Stopped Working

I have a DEC 3000 M500 box that is running Tru64 UNIX 5.
Its got a DEC Lance Ethernet Interface.

Until yesterday, it was running along just fine. We moved the ethernet cable
from one hub to another. This did not work, so I tried to move it back to the
original hub. Now it did not work on the original hub. The ethernet won't work
at all now, the light on the hub does not light up when plugged in. It can
ping it's own ip, even when the it's ethernet is unplugged.
here is the results of netstat -rn(slightly modified)

default etc.etc.etc.54 UGS Ln0
127.0.0.1 127.0.0.1 UHL Lo0
etc.etc.etc.56/32 127.0.0.1 UGS Lo0
etc.etc.etc.56/27 etc.etc.etc.55 U Lo0
etc.etc.etc.55 etc.etc.etc.55 UHL Ln0

Where 54 is the gateway, and 55 is its own ip address and 56 is the network.

Tried restarting inetd, the whole computer, etc. No dice.

If this is a hardware failure, I need a way to move the data off this computer.
All its got is a tape drive (no clue on tape size or how to get that on a new
computer.) Are there slots for a new ethernet card?

Thanks a lot!
