HEllo,
If you have configured enhanced secuiry you may have enabled 'Execute bit
set only by root'
I recommend that you run 'sysman secconfig' again and check the settings.
Regards
Phil

Although I switched back from enhanced to base security soon
after installing the system, the flag was still set. I removed it
explicitly and now chmod works as desired. It wasa indeed an ugly
setting.

Hi folks,
I upgraded to Tu64 v5.1 recently, now using AdvFS instead of UFS
and I find that ba normal user can no longer create executable
files, i.e. chmod [ugoa]+x does only work for root.
Also, all user programs that had the executable flag set on UFS
now are stripped of it and I need to become root to restore them.
Is this a known/wanted/undocumented "feature" or did I do
something ugly when creating and filling the file set ?

Tschüß,
Dieter
