VisualThreads, setuid and CDE

Hello managers. I have a couple of questions regarding VisualThreads and
the CDE. I have just installed VisualThreads but one of the developers
needs to run it as root. Now, is there a problem with using setuid with
VisualThreads? I am pretty new to the sysadmin game and have seen a lot of
warnings against using the setuid bit, but I am not sure if such
admonishments are appropriate here. Any opinions? If this is a bad idea,
then I must ask my next question. There is a shortcut in the Developer's
Toolkit window that starts VisualThreads. How do I find out what program
does this points to and what arguments are used?(It may be handy to make my
own someday) Is it possible to login with eXcursion, su to root and then
run the program from the command line, or better yet, use sudo?

Thanks,
