[Q] 4.0G disappearing /var/adm/syslog.dated

Dear all,

same box as the multiplying named... I've lost syslog.dated this
morning, the nightly cron (which I expect is the one wiping the logs)
wiped the directory.

Clearly an ill box, sadly one of the main servers - any ideas apart
from "recreate the directories"?
