Backup automated using cron fails to prompt for a second tape

Dear all,

        I have automated my daily backup using the Cron. The server is an
Alpha 1000A with Digital Unix 4.0D running on it.
        I backup all the file systems on the server using separate vdump
commands.
        A batch file consisting of all the vdump commands is called by the
cron.
        The problem being: once the tape gets full, my cron job is unable to
prompt for a new tape and the backup is halted.

        Is there anyway i can make the cron prompt for a new tape and resume
the backup.
