Greetings,
Sorry that this is off-topic, but, i an interesting
scenario going on. I have network printer, an HP
Laserjet 4MV, that if not printed to in a while (bout
2mins or so), looses network connection (can't ping
it, enabled all options form front panel that were
suggested on hp site on related cases). ...to this
point, i ruled out Jetdirect card problem.
But: when a job is sent from Windows LPR spooler 4.1,
it magically awakes the printer, and out comes the
print job, and it becomes ping'able again. Sending a
job from Unix (4.0g if it makes a diff), just sits
there, waiting for printer to come up. one has to ask
a windows user to print to awake it, or power it
on/off
Anyone ran into this sort of problem before...? Any
suggestions..??
My take is to order a new jetdirect card, but i am
challenged that how come windows LPR spooler prints
fine?? Trying to figure out a logical explanation
_Thanks in advance
Richard
