Even though we haven't resolved all our V5.1 issues on our GS320's
yet, we have managed to get multipathing working finally. We were not
able to failover from one path to the other previously. After applying
Patch Kit 3, we had to apply a couple of point patches
1. Patch to fix "malloc_internal" panics
2. CFS relocate patch
Also, We updated the KGPSA driver version to V1.29a(Patch Kit 3 gives
you this). The cpu firmware was updated V5.9B, the KGPSA firmware was
updated to DS381A4, the HSG80's firmware was updated to V8.5F - 4 and
finally the brocade switch firmware was updated to V2.1.9G.
One important lesson that we learnt while trying to make multipathing
work in our storage setup - If you have a pair of HSG80's configured
for dual redundancy and you are using only two ports out of the 4 on
the pair, try and use port 1 on both of them. We were using port 1 on
the A controller and port 2 on the B controller and although a lot of
people said that this should not be a problem, it was ultimately the
one change that allowed multipathing to work as designed. We still
have some outstanding issues with "invalid config for cluster seq
disk" panics and cnxmgr panics. But at least multipathing seems to be
working now. We have tried dropping a controller out of a pair and
also a san switch and where before, everything used to panic, it fails
over quite well to the other path now.
