Summary (Update): Anyone know if 3.2c will regognize a DLT2000XT drive?

Well....3.2c most definitely worked with the drive just fine. The existing
rmt0a & rmt0h devices
worked fine. On powerup, it read the drive name without difficulties.

The drive worked fine, first pass, and on 14GB, took 1 hour faster to make
the backup.
What is nice about this drive is it has density override button on the front
panel, so setting
the denisty wasn't a problem.

Now, if the tape cart's were just a little cheaper....

The responses mostly tell me that the drive should work with our existing
device definitions
I'll find out when the drive arrives....

Thanks
George

We just picked up a used 15/30gb compaq DLT tape drive. The price was
excellent ($200.00) so we
went with it. It's an external model single drive (not that should make any
difference).

This can be used as a regular tape backup? We currently have 7/14 8mm
Exabyte. I was hoping to
swap out the 8mm, and swap in the 15/30 drive (both are external). Aside
from rebooting, that's all
that should need to be done?

Do I need to create any new devices for it?

currently we are using a /dev/rmt0a & /dev/rmt0h

Thanks
George
