SUMMARY: Is FUSE a good tool to have?

Thanks for all of the helpful responses! Your messages confirmed my
suspicions about FUSE being a somewhat outdated product.

First, our Compaq sales rep tells me:

<< I did some checking and the Compaq Fuse product is no longer saleable as
of this March. Compaq is sending customers to a company by the name of
"C-Forge" for product. The URL for C-FORGE for product information is
www.codeforge.com >>

Second, here's a summary of what the mailing list participants said:

FUSE is --
...in maintenance mode
...has been retired / will soon be retired
...an Integrated Development Environment (IDE) that uses Ladebug as its
debugger

LADEBUG is --
...in active development

Suggestions:
* Check the Ladebug version. Build 65 is current as of May 2001.
URL: http://www.compaq.com/products/software/ladebug/

* Work with the ladebug development team to get ladebug enhanced to
better meet your developers' needs;

* Contact Compaq Services and ask for help with Ladebug on Tru64 UNIX. This
team can report bugs to the Ladebug engineering team.

* Send questions/issues via e-mail to: Ladebug.Support_at_Compaq.com

* Check for alternative debuggers and IDE's:

+ TotalView from Pallas.

+ ddd, an interface to a number of debuggers

+ C-Forge

Subject: Is FUSE a good tool to have?

Tru64 Managers:

Our engineers (end users) would like a "better debugger" -- they say they're
having trouble setting multiple breakpoints, accessing variables, and
attaching to executables [their description].

They're currently using Ladebug GUI (part of the Developers Toolkit that was
purchased).

So my question: Is the FUSE software a worthwhile investment? I just want
to be sure it's a current product, stable, useful, etc.

Thanks,
