Thanks to Chris Ruhnke, Randy Rodgers and balaji for their replies.
Original Question:
I have a TRUcluster ASE V1.5 running on TRU64 UNIX V4.0D with Patchkit level
3 currently applied.
Due to various reasons (mostly Oracle related) we now need to apply Patchkit
level 8.
My question is: Do I need to perform any prep work such as removing the ASE
software prior to applying the patchkit or can I just simply run 'dupatch'
with both nodes in the cluster down in singleuser mode?
The common consensus is that I most certainly do not have to remove the ASE
s/w as it's associated patchkits will not then be applied.
I can shutdown the Servers to singleuser mode as normal and apply the
patchkit using 'dupatch'.
Another option is to failover the services to server B, apply patchkit to
Server A and then vice-versa.
Chris Ruhnke also mentioned that when upgrading between versions of Tru64
UNIX, ASE does have to be removed although one is asked if you'd like to
keep a copy of the ASE configuration database.
When the new version of ASE is then applied it will pick up the saved
database and use it.
I've not applied the patchkit yet (due to various reasons) although when I
do I'll post a further summary to let you know how I got on with regard to
any associated issues with Oracle etc.
Thanks again!
Simon
