SUMMARY: Can a process span CPUs?

I received a number of responses saying that if an application is
multi-threaded, then processes _can_ span CPUs at the same time. The best
documentation I found regarding process management (including a pointer to
a paper describing "upcalls") is the "Guide to DECthreads".
