AAAAHHHH!!! I'm having major printing problems and it's KILLING me!!! Ok, here's the deal. We have a new HP laserjet printer for our servers to print from. The print server is all setup, and all of the servers can see the print server no problem. I go into printconfig (i'm running 5.0A and 4.0F btw), and setup the printer no problem. But then I do an lpc status <printer>, and it says there is no daemon present. It says this on all 4 of the unix servers!! I've done everything I can think of--lpc restart, stop/start, down/up, etc etc. Nothing works. I tried printing with no daemon--and it says "waiting for print queue to be enabled", but two lines up from "no daemon present" it says quite cleary "queueing enabled". I'm assuming this has something to do with the daemon--but I don't know. I looked at the /var/adm/syslog.dated/current/lpr.log, but it doesn't really say anything interesting. I even reset the print server a few times...nothing works. I need help before I throw the printer out of the window!!
