Dear colleagues,
My originial question was :
Is anybody running specific software to protect sendmail against viruses,
i.e. to check incoming mail for typical PC-viruses.
And these were the answers I got :

We run some software that does a pretty good job. It's a procmail
sanitizer. It is freeware and can be downloaded from:
US:
http://www.impsec.org/email-tools/procmail-security.html
EU:
ftp://kanon.net/pub/jhardin/antispam/procmail-security.html
AUS:

The sanitizer home page is at

I'm currently trying the beta test of Interscan Virus wall from Trend Micro
and it seems to be the something easy to use and it's running with sendmail.
I know that Sophos has also a product but I'm not sure it's running with
sendmail.

We are using an old version of AMaVIS (
http://www.amavis.org/), with
Sophos and NAI as antivirus. We hacked this version in order to make
it running as a relay : Since most antivirus don't run on Tru64
(except Sophos), we are running AMAVIS on a Linux box : it filters
email, then forward them to our Tru64 system.
