Performance Manager is an optional subset of Tru64 UNIX and is included
with every copy of the operating system. This is a full-featured,
single-system version that does not require a license. Earlier versions
of PM had an optional license that enabled distributed performance
monitoring and management. This license has been retired, and the
distributed functionality is in maintenance mode.

If you have previously purchased a distributed license, you can still
use PM to manage distributed nodes. To aid you in your continuing use of
Performance Manager, Version 5.1A recognizes the appropriate ports for
previous PM 4.0x releases. This enables you to continue monitoring
existing nodes while adding new nodes running 5.x versions of PM.

Third party products can replace much of the licensed, distributed
functionality of PM. The following ISVs have tools you may want to
evaluate for your specific needs:

Darn, we liked this feature too. We didn't get a chance to vote for it
with our dollars either. We didn't know it was a cost extra feature or
we would have. I mean we were getting it for free. Why retire a good
thing, when you could give it away as a value added freebie. Oh well,
I'm not the boss. We can't use it in its free manifestation due to the
performance hit. I guess we are going to have to go shopping.

Another alternate idea:
