Killing a rogue socket connection

Folks,

I'm either getting old, rusty, or can't remember
anything (all 3 maybe), but is there a command
that I can run which will disconnect a rogue
socket connection that's showing up in a "netstat"
output? This was left over when an application
crashed this morning, and is sitting in the
"FIN_WAIT_1" status. I know for certain that the
program that was using this is the epitome of dead
(we just held the funeral for it), so it's not
using it. However, we can't restart it until this
port is closed.

Any assistance would be appreciated.

TIA,
--Blake
