Compaq finally did it..

i realize this is old news now, but finally.. I've been waiting since 1997
for Compaq to do what they intended to do with DEC: shut them down. Compaq
wants to become a box shifting company for Microsoft and Intel.. more power
to them. I wish they would have sold Alpha to Cray for 5 dollars or
something at least instead of making the alpha engineers goto intel and
shovel coal in the basement. I hope you guys at compaq have your resumes
together because soon as compaq tries its hand at being a VAR basically its
GAME OVER MAN. Compaq let Dell and others come in and eat their lunch on the
PC market so they now wanna be a VAR... how original... "box shifting
economics" as i read one place.

I can promise you this... when they finally kill the alpha totally it'll
still be the fastest, cleanest, and well respected processor on the scene
for some time to come.

so.. when do we get IA-64 Tru64 betas? :)

to hell with Compaq, Microsoft .NET, and most importantly Intel IA-64
