Dr. Blinn,
It funny that all you did was basiclly reinforce what our fears are that
there is no real upgrade path to the GS160 but to go with GS320, and that
the EV7 chips will more that likely be on a new system and can not be used
on current systems, but that could change but no one knows so the customers
hang in the wind to guess.
thanks
Vince

Vince,
Neither Paul nor I are responsible for answering your questions. Being
that as it may, NO ONE has promised that the EV7 processors will work in
the GS series cabinetry. I am not telling you that they will not, since
I don't know that they will not, but I have seen nothing so far that is
a strong indication that they will. There ARE planned "speed upgrades"
for the current GS series using the EV67 microprocessor chips, and they
are due out in the near future.
If you really need the in-depth kind of system packaging roadmap for the
AlphaServer system family that you are seeking, then you need to get to
your account manager and ask for a presentation under non-disclosure, it
is the ONLY way you will get the details you seek.
Putting it another way, even if Paul and I knew the detailed answers to
your questions, we could not tell you. It's HIGHLY business sensitive
information. You MUST work through your account manager.
