We have a gs140 and an es40 which both run T64v4.0f. Recently,
we were testing some error detection code and pulled the wire from
a DE500 NIC for about 10 minutes on each system, then reconnected.
NICs were set to FastFD at the console level.
Subsequently there were perf. problems, and we gradually determined
that problem seemed related to duplex settings, i.e. you couldn't
ftp/scp a large file, it stopped after just a small amount of data
had been sent/received. On each interface, we then did:
ifconfig [ifname] speed 200
and everything worked fine.
* Is there a way to get the actual speed/duplex an interface
is running at? I know about "consvar" but that just shows the
setting, not the actual current value.
* Anyone know of anything in the Compaq MIBs that would tell
us the actual current operating parameters of the interface
via snmp?
* Anyone ever seen this kind of behavior? Is it some kind of
default, or buggy behavior?
TIA...
