SUMMARY: Problem with Alpha Workstation and Cisco Switch

The autonegotiation of speed and duplex between the workstation's Ethernet
card and the Cisco router is the source of the problem.
The solution: force the the settings of router and the workstation to 100MB
FullDuplex and don't use the autonegotiation.
At the OS level (Tru64):

  # lan_config -i tu0 -s 100 -x 1

At the SRM level:

>>> set ewa0_mode FastFD
