Hi every body
I am running a OSF1 V4.0 1229 alpha Alpha server DS20.
I am having a problem whith icmp traffic i think whith IP-s outside
our class. And the problem is like this.
Trying to ping , yahoo.com for example , i can not get any response
back
The out put of tcpdump is as follows
---------------------------------------
12:38:19.821689 0.0.0.0 > img3.yahoo.com: icmp: echo request
12:38:20.821689 0.0.0.0 > img3.yahoo.com: icmp: echo request
12:38:21.824618 0.0.0.0 > img3.yahoo.com: icmp: echo request
12:38:22.832431 0.0.0.0 > img3.yahoo.com: icmp: echo request
12:38:23.838290 0.0.0.0 > img3.yahoo.com: icmp: echo request
12:38:24.844150 0.0.0.0 > img3.yahoo.com: icmp: echo request
-----------------------------------------
And in deed when i try
ping 195.22.199.230 (this ip is of our class) the output is
---------------------------------------------------
12:39:40.988681 temp2.atnet.com.al > 195.22.199.230: icmp: echo request
12:39:41.994540 temp2.atnet.com.al > 195.22.199.230: icmp: echo request
12:39:43.000400 temp2.atnet.com.al > 195.22.199.230: icmp: echo request
12:39:44.006259 temp2.atnet.com.al > 195.22.199.230: icmp: echo request
12:39:45.012118 temp2.atnet.com.al > 195.22.199.230: icmp: echo request
12:39:46.018954 temp2.atnet.com.al > 195.22.199.230: icmp: echo request
------------------------------------------------
But i can have any other traffic through my my router. But i just can't
ping.
Some applications interpret localhost as 0.0.0.0 but is it normal the
output of tcpdump
in the first case and why is different from the second one????
I know there is no filter in gateway router
Thanks in advance
