Users .profile file

Hi all,

Bit of a strange problem this.

Some background.

Over the last 4 months I have had a users .profile file mysteriously
disappear from the users home directory. I have put in a check job which is
running all the time on the server to check for the presence of the file
and, if it isn't, copies a copy of the file back in place. It also notifies
me of when this happens. For the last 3 times now it has seemed to be
happening on the first day of the month on a weekday only. I have checked
all crontabs and at jobs and everything else that I can think of but can't
find out what or why this file keeps disappearing. The system application
depends on this file being there as it set up all the variable and paths
etc... I have spoken to the application company who have also had a look
and can't see anything to indicate what is going on.

Question is has anyone seen this before, or got any idea why this is
happening, and how to stop it?

Tru64 5.1 patch kit 3 on an es40 server

Thanks in advance.
