We are upgrading to R/3 4.6C at our site soon. The memory required by
the new release is approximately 3 times is what we are being told by
SAP.
What we are really trying to do is increase the amount of memory that
each R/3 work process can have. We tried this by bumping up the
shm_max in the ipc subsystem upto half of the physical memory. This
allowed for R/3 to allocate extended memory upto half of what shm_max
was set to. When we tried to go higher, we had issues with work
processes being unable to allocate memory(malloc errors). So we tried
bumping up the per process parameters but then we couldn't even bring
oracle up. Has anyone upgraded to R/3 V4.6 and faced similar
problems/issues? If someone has already been through this I'd
appreciate any and all help. I understand that the information
provided here leaves a lot more questions in mind and is to say the
least cryptic but I guess I don't really know what to say other than
that we don't have any problems while on the older release of R/3 but
the issue arises when we try to go to R/3 4.6C. Does anyone know of
any SAP sites/OSS notes that tell you exactly what to do?
