We have recently upgraded our 2 main servers from 4.0F to 5.1 and are
experiencing a couple of problems
1) rwhod does not appear to be broadcasting. It is started with no flags, and
according to the manual page this means it should both broadcast and listen. It
is listening ok, but not broadcasting.
2) One of the machines acts as our departmental ftp server. However since the
upgrade we are finding that the ftpd processes are not exiting and the load on
the machine keeps going up. Even "kill -9" won't get rid of them. We use
wu-ftpd rather than the one that comes with the system and we also call it
through the tcp wrapper process for security. We have recompiled both of these,
but it hasn't helped. I have had to disable ftpd for now so the machine is
usable.
Any help greatly appreciated.
