[Summary] not able to CD to a directory

Okay, after some serious thought I finally figured it out.
since the mount point was set to 700 no one has 'access' to it. I couldn't
even change the permissions as root. So.. umounting the mount poing,
changing permissions to 750 then remounting solved my problem!

Thanks for all the replies! They jarred my memory. :)

After I was unable to cp the .profile, I then attempted to cd to the
directory, which failed; same error.

file /xprs01 = "unable to open for read"

After su - oraclexp and ending up in /xprs01 I cd .. then attempt to cd back
to the home dir (/xprs01) which results in a "File or Directory not found"

Hello everyone.. Here is something strange I ran across today.

after mounting an advfs from our SAN,

here's the entry in the fstab:

depl#xprs01 /xprs01 advfs rw,userquota,groupquota 0 2

I've set /xprs01 up as a user's home directory. While attempting to cp a
.profile to this directory I get a "File or Directory not found"

drwx------ 2 oraclexp dba 8192 Aug 30 13:35 xprs01

But.. When I su - oraclexp I end up in /xprs01

(OSF1 v5.1)

Any ideas?
