Ok...our NetWorker server (5.5.2), which is running on Tru64 5.1 patch-kit 3, uses gigabit ethernet to perform the backups of the other servers. Before TU5.1, we had to define the gigabit cards in the inet.local file--which worked just fine. Then when we upgraded to 5.1, we decided to use the rc.config instead of the inet.local. The cards continued to work fine for any kind of file transfers we did. But the NetWorker backups would time out on most of the filesets that were being backed up. The weirdest thing is that our biggest single fileset backed up fine (about 100GB)--but small ones like / and /usr would fail with a timeout exceeded warning.
We have an open case with Legato to figure out the problem. but in the meantime what I did last night was to put the gigabit cards back in the inet.local file--and the backups completed perfectly. So my question is, has anyone else had a similar problem with NetWorker? I don't really understand it, because the cards seemed to be working fine--no collisions or anything like that. We didn't change any hardware at all during this process. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.
