Within minutes I had several responses (Pat O'Brien; Arrigo Triulzi; Bryan
Lavelle) - they mentioned that SMP systems apparently want a separate PAK
for each CPU, querries about whether or not the PAKs we were provided for
our dual-CPU DS20E's were MOD_UNIT enabled (they are, like all PAKs we've
received over the years), and cautions that we'd need "75" units for an
SMP system.
To elaborate our situation,
-We received exactly one (1) OSF-BASE PAK per [dual-CPU] DS20E, with no
indication on it that there should be another, nor the CPU serial no.,
etc.
-The number of units per PAK is 50 (which would seem to be sufficient).
This is what I'm specifying when registering the PAKs.
-Modifying the number of units would seem to be, at this point,
irrelevant: I can't get the as-provided PAK to load (it registers and
enables fine, however, implying that the checksum is okay).
If "75" is, indeed, a magic number, I'll try modifying units to this and
reloading. I don't expect this to work.
Thanks for responses so far.
Any more, if anyone can come up with something else, are welcomed.
Chris
