The general concensus was DON'T DO IT!!! Use the 4.0f > 4.0g > v5.1 path.

"Compaq informed me that the installupgrade from v4.0f to v5.0a is buggy and
should be avoided. They recommended upgrading to v5.1 via v4.0g."
Well after screwing up one system and having to rebuild, the second I followed the 4.0g path and everything went fine.
