can an executable be moved while it is running ?

We develop our own applications - and a question came up in a meeting -

Is it always safe to move (mv) an executable binary file while it is running
on a Tru64 UNIX system? We are mostly asking about a rename to a different
name, not a different directory. I would guess the answer depends upon the
internals of virtual memory paging, of which I am not familiar.

If a pointer to an authoritative source can be given with your answer, that
would be helpful.

Thanks,
